Job Description

The Children’s Minister (CM) is a 12 month part-time position that focuses on the ministry of the children of the parish ages 4 years through 5thgrade. This person will help form the faith of our children in a fun, inviting way, and help our children develop a foundation for the Christian faith. The CM will also develop relationships with the parents and use skills such as teaching, caring, connecting with children, organization, and communication. The CM reports to the Rector.

Responsibilities

  • Sunday Mornings

  • Lead children’s Sunday school: choose curriculum, recruit volunteers, encourage participation, etc. 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 am

  • Coordinate w/Nursery Worker to ensure required coverage in St Jude’s Nursery

  • Attend Sunday morning worship at St. Jude’s

  • Children Activities

  • Plan and implement special events involving children, families, and congregation at large; coordinate with the CYM team and volunteers

  • Plan and implement VBS: Choose a curriculum and reserve a date for VBS coordinating with the CYM team. Order supplies, organize volunteers and publicize to the community.

  • Inform children and parents of upcoming diocesan events and encourage participation

  • Foster multi-generational relationships with planned activities

  • Administrative Roles

  • Communicate upcoming children activities with children, families, and congregation using a variety of platforms such as email, text, FB, etc.

  • Meet monthly with Rector and CYM team about offerings, attendance, and any special circumstances that arise

  • Email monthly Activity Report to Rector & Personnel Committee

  • Collaborate with Youth Minister to lead monthly CYM Meeting

 

Qualifications

  • Willing to learn about the Episcopal Church and willing to share the Christian faith

  • Effective organizational, administration, communication, and technology skills

  • Friendly and flexible, enjoy working with children

  • Available for flexible hours, including weekends and evenings when planned activities are scheduled

 

Terms of Employment

  • Salary - $500/month

  • Hours – 24 hours per month (approx. 6-8 hours/week)

  • The employee will work Sundays and other specific times agreed upon with the Rector.

  • Requirements for employment:

  • Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children courses

  • Completion of background checks

  • Two or Three references – professional and personal

  • After school

  • Weekend availability

 

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Niceville, FL 32578: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

 

Experience:

  • Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
