St. Jude’s VBS program, “Big Heart Farms: Where God’s Fruit Grows!”, Galatians 5:16-26, was held each Sunday in July. It was a great success and fun for all! Our thanks to the members of the Men’s Wednesday morning Bible study group who put up the signs, and to our teachers, Dorothy Briley, Lauren Franklin, Elizabeth Ray, Lyn and Stafford Smith, and Cecilia Snyder. We also extend our thanks for support from the Briley family, Mike and Nikolai Baugh, Fred Ketchem and all the older youth for being great helpers! It was wonderful to watch the kids as they shared their joyful spirit.
The on-going VBS project, “Kids Helping Kids”, involves donations of school supplies to our local schools and students. We have already collected $227 and continue to welcome other donations. This amount more than covers what has already been purchased, so we are pleased we will be able to donate more to the schools than we originally planned.
Our thanks to YOU, the generous parishioners of St. Jude’s!
The Children and Youth are sponsoring another donation program which will be for Caring and Sharing.
We hope you will consider donating, rather than tossing away, the following items: used backpacks, totes or durable/reusable grocery bags. Bring them to the Parish Hall and place in the designated plastic bin.
Sunday, August 7 at the 10:30am service, we will have our Blessing of the Backpacks for those kids returning to school. Following the service in the parish hall, we will be hosting an Ice Cream Social,
generously sponsored by Eric and Debra Kosche. There will be a short information session regarding our plans for Children and Youth Fall Programs. This is a great time to find out about upcoming activities, ways to volunteer with the children and youth, and register your child for the fall classes and activities. As a reminder, we always welcome new volunteer; having young children is not a prerequisite!
Sunday, August 14 St. Jude’s Sunday school class will resume during the 10:30 AM service. There will be one classroom for pre-school through elementary age children this year.
Sunday, August 28, Middle and High School Youth are invited to join our “Welcome Back” activity and dinner from 4:00 to 6:30pm. More information to come. Please RSVP to Cecilia Snyder, email@example.com, if you are interested.
