  • Tech | St. Jude's Episcopal

Technology Our technology team is always recruiting new members. If you have an interest in computers, audio-visual equipment, networking, communications, etc., we invite you to be a part of our behind-the-scenes ministry bringing the sights and sounds of St. Jude's to life on Sunday mornings and beyond. Livestreaming: A Basic Introduction To decide whether this ministry is right for you, check out our short series of introductory videos. We also invite you to shadow us at the 10:30 a.m. service any Sunday. Stop by the technology table around 9:30 a.m. and let us know you are interested. We'll be happy to show you the basics, answer your questions, and even let you take a turn on the equipment if you feel comfortable. Don't get intimidated. There's a learning curve, but we all started somewhere. Once you get the hang of things, it can even be a lot of fun. This would be a great ministry for teens and young adults who are digital natives. We'll be glad to sign off on community service forms for your volunteer hours. Children's Ministry Stay connected with St. Jude's Children's Ministry on Remind! Download the free Remind app to connect with the St. Jude’s Children Ministry. You simply text it to 81010 with the message: @stjudeschi. Or, you can simply type https://www.remind.com/join/stjudesyouchi in your phone’s internet browser to receive information about upcoming children's programs/activities. Events are being planned around Easter, Mother's Day, and VBS. We would love for you and your children to be a part of all the fun activities happening at St. Jude's. Book Drive for the Children and Nursery The nursery and children of St. Jude’s need book donations. This is a great opportunity to clean out your home of books your children no longer use or need. These books will be used by our volunteers to help entertain the children and nursery when we have events. There is a bin under the bulletin board with a sign asking for your book donations. We will continue to accept donations until the end of February. Examples of great book options: any Dr. Seuss or Eric Carle books, The Giving Tree, and Goodnight Moon. We would love, and appreciate, anything you can donate for the children. Sunday School teachers and helpers always needed! Preschool through Elementary school age kids are welcome to St. Jude's Sunday School! Join new friends for fun and age-appropriate lessons every Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. service. Children will re-join their families in the Sanctuary during the passing of the peace so they can participate in communion. Children must be potty-trained to attend Sunday School. Of course, the nursery is also available during both services for littler ones. Interested in volunteering to help with Sunday School? A teacher and volunteer observer are needed for each classroom every week. An online "safe church" training class is required . Please talk to one of the members of the Children and Youth Ministry team or one of the adults in the Sunday School classrooms for more information. Youth News Upcoming Youth Group Events: Tuesday, February 13, 5:30pm to 6:30pm The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be here before we know it! This is a youth led event that always has a big turnout! Volunteer slots begin at 3:30pm for set up; meals will be served from 5:30pm to 6:30pm; clean up should wrap up at 7:30pm. Family tickets are $10, and single tickets are $4. Tickets can be purchased after the 8am service, before the 10:30am service, and at the door the night of the supper. If you or your child (6th to 12th grade) would like to volunteer, sign up sheets will be in the parish hall, or you can reach out to Samantha via text or email. Sunday, February 25, 11:30 to 1:30pm Following the 10:30am service, the youth group will be meeting in the youth room. We will be continuing our discussion about the Lent season. The focus of this meeting will be on how we can replace the vice we gave up during Lent with something more spiritual, and ways we can continue this intent past Lent. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP to Samantha via email or text. Important information: Download the free Remind app or text 81010 to be connected with St. Jude’s Youth Ministry. Text 81010 with the message @stjudesyou or type https://www.remind.com/join/stjudesyou in your phone’s internet browser to receive information about upcoming youth events. Youth News Safeguarding Safeguarding God's Children St. Jude's Episcopal Church is committed to ensuring it provides a safe and caring environment. • I'm New Here | St. Jude's Episcopal

What to Expect It can be intimidating to walk into a church for the first time. That's why when you visit St. Jude's Episcopal church, you will be our respected and welcome guest. You will not be singled out in an embarrassing way, nor asked to stand before the congregation, nor to come forward. You will worship God with us, as one of us. You may have seen the signs in towns across America that say, "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You." Well, we mean it! Whether you are here visiting with friends or family, are new to the area and looking for a church, or simply seek life's deeper meaning, you are welcome at St. Jude's Episcopal Church. We get it. What happens during a service? The framework of all our services is liturgy. This means each service follows a set format, laid down in the Book of Common Prayer. We will also use the Bible and two music books: the Hymnal 1982, and Renew. The good news is that our service bulletin lists out all the prayers, responses, and scriptures during the service. Any hymns that are sung during worship are numbered so you can easily find them in the hymnal. Your service bulletin will guide you to which book we will be using at which time, should you choose to use them, and you should find copies of all these books in the back of the pew in front of you or under your seat. If you can't find one, ask one of our friendly ushers. Our liturgy may be new to you, and we do a lot of standing, kneeling, and sitting. Please feel free to participate as much or little as you like, and don't feel like you have to kneel or stand, especially if you have health concerns. You will not be judged for how much you do or do not participate. However, we hope you will appreciate the active and participatory nature of worship in The Episcopal Church. As you become more comfortable with the service, we hope you will find reassurance and peace in knowing what to expect each week. View an instructed Eucharist service here. We invite all baptized Christians to come forward and partake of the Eucharist. If you would like to partake but have mobility concerns or require a gluten-free wafer, please let an usher know. Come as you are. Although our worship style is traditional, we aren't stuffy. It's Florida, after all! You will see folks wearing suits and folks in shorts and flip flops... and we lean towards the latter. If you arrive a little early, ask an usher to direct you to our Parish Hall so we can offer you hot coffee and fresh donuts. We'd love to meet you. Bringing the kids? As you arrive, one of our friendly ushers will be happy to walk you back to our Sunday School and nursery area. Nursery is open for both services and Sunday School is held during the 10:30 a.m. service. Find out more about our kids' programs.
